What are Congressional Visits Days?
The Congressional Visits Day (CVD), a two-day event in Washington, D.C,brings scientists and educators to the Hill to raise visibility and support for science, engineering, and technology. The CVD exposes constituent scientists to the federal budget and appropriations process, while initiating or continuing the process of developing relationships with members of their Congressional delegation. For Congress, the activity puts a human face on science, and highlights the importance of long-term investment in science, engineering, and technology to our Nation’s economy. Congressional Visits Days are coordinated by coalitions of professional societies and educational institutions. The CVD is open to society members and institutional employees who believe that science and technology are the key areas of innovation, which will bring our nation long-lasting economic security.
